New Barranquilla Container Terminal to Implement Tideworks' Solutions
Terminal Operating System to Streamline Efficiency and Deliver Dependable Support for New Latin American Terminal
Tideworks Technology®, Inc., a leading provider of full-service terminal management and planning software solutions, today announced that Barranquilla Container Terminal has selected Tideworks’ terminal operating system (TOS) solutions. Barranquilla Container Terminal chose Tideworks Technology’s solutions for implementation in the greenfield container terminal located in the Port of Barranquilla, Colombia to more efficiently manage operations.
Barranquilla Container Terminal is a joint venture between SSA International and Sociedad Portuaria del Norte (SNP). The new facility will be managed by Santa Marta International Terminal Company (SMITCO) and will initially have capacity for approximately 122,000 TEU annually. Barranquilla Container Terminal plans to expand the container yard to five hectares and increase capacity to 190,000 TEU during a second phase of development.
“We are excited about the opportunity to be part of this new venture in Colombia, a very dynamic and innovative region of South America,” said Michael Schwank, president of Tideworks. “This deployment continues to reinforce Tideworks’ position as a leading provider of terminal operating systems in Latin America, and we look forward to supporting Barranquilla as it grows and expands.”
Barranquilla Container Terminal will deploy Tideworks’ Mainsail Terminal Management System®, Forecast® by Tideworks and Spinnaker Planning Management System® to manage container operations. Tideworks will provide all associated implementation services including project management, software customization, user training, and go-live assistance. Once the technology is implemented, Tideworks will provide 24/7 technical support and all software upgrades. Under an Infrastructure Service Agreement incorporated in the master agreement, Tideworks will also provide Barranquilla Container Terminal with remote technical services to include system health monitoring and database and OS administration. Tideworks’ TOS is expected to go live at the Barranquilla Container Terminal in the second quarter of 2013.
“Tideworks’ great reputation made the decision easy. We knew we’d get a comprehensive solution with unbeatable support,” said Jaime Sasso, Barranquilla Container Terminal and SMITCO general manager. “We’ve leveraged the power of Tideworks’ TOS solutions in Santa Marta and look forward to seeing an efficient and productive terminal right out of the gate in Barranquilla.”
